As part of the European Solidarity Corps project YOU COMPOSE – Youth Competences and Composting Practices for Inclusive Communities, AristoTales’ international volunteers in Stratoni, Halkidiki, implemented a series of activities aimed at promoting composting and raising environmental awareness within the local community.
The volunteers created informational leaflets and short video campaigns highlighting the benefits of composting and the importance of managing organic waste in an environmentally friendly way. At the same time, they informed local residents, restaurants, and businesses, encouraging them to actively participate in the initiative. To provide practical support, special bins were distributed to restaurants and residents in Stratoni to collect organic waste for composting.
Particular emphasis was also placed on environmental education for younger children. The volunteers developed educational games that introduced children to composting in a fun and interactive way.
Through these creative and participatory initiatives, YOU COMPOSE connected awareness-raising with practical action, encouraging the local community to contribute to reducing organic waste and adopting more sustainable everyday habits.
Through YOU COMPOSE, AristoTales and its international volunteers brought environmental awareness closer to the residents of Stratoni, demonstrating that small, collective initiatives can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
